The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied arresting the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commision EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu.
The media was, on Monday, awash with reports that Magu was arrested by the DSS.
But the DSS in a statement said there was no such arrest.
According to the earlier report by some social media handles, “Acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, has been arrested by men of the Department of State Security (DSS). A source at the EFCC confirmed the arrest a short while ago. He was arrested on Monday afternoon and is now undergoing interrogation at the DSS Headquarters in Aso Drive.”
In a statement titled: “Magu, Not Arrested by DSS”, and signed by the Spokesman of DSS, Dr Peter Afunanya, the secret service said the agency did not arrest the EFCC Chairman.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media.
