The minister of transportation, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has explained that calling the ministry to give explanation on its loan request would adversely affect the chances of securing the loan.
In his chat with the News Agency of Nigeria, the former governor of Rivers state explained that if the lawmakers intend to probe for corruption they should do that later when the loan must have been secured.
He further stated that such summon could affect the possibility of getting the loan thereby ending the railway projects abruptly.
According to him, the loan is necessary to complete the project and could be paid back from what is generated on the rail.
Recall that the “green chamber” of the National Assembly had requested for defence of the budget made by several ministries.
