It is wise to get petroleum products handy now, as another scarcity of the commodity is imminent.
This is because, Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have embarked on an indefinite strike.
The two bodies have directed their members to embark on the industrial action, with effect from yesterday, following the government’s inability to respond to their plea and demand.
The groups have given a 7-day ultimatum to the government on November 2.
This came as a result of the recurring issues arising from enrollment into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information Scheme (IPPIS).
Apart from the IPPIS saga, the two groups are also infuriated with the debt of 22 months owed their members working with Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
As it stands, the position of the government has not reflected compromise, as explained by PENGASSAN spokesman, Mr Jerry Amah; although steps are being taken to ameliorate the situation.
