Central Bank of Nigeria has responded to a call for removal of Arabic inscription on naira.
According to the apex bank, Nigeria deals with countries who do not understand the English language except Arabic, as such, the inscription is relevant and does not reflect religion.
According to the legal practitioner who filed for the case, Malcolm Omirhobo, the Arabic inscription takes away the status of secular state from Nigeria and makes her appear religious.
He also explained that many Nigerians do not understand the Arabic language; thus, languages that are spoken in Nigeria should be used instead. Court is however, yet to sit on the suit.
