Drama as Senate Questions Lai Mohammed’s ₦19m Travel During Lockdown

Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation has queried the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

The question came up when the minister was presenting and defending the ministry’s budget for the fiscal year.

Drama erupted when a member of the committee and senator representing Imo East, Senator Ezennwa Onyewuchi asked the minister how the ministry managed the ₦43 million allocated to international tour for the year.

The minister insisted that the ministry spent ₦19 million naira on international travel and tours out of the money.

The senator asked question about the lockdown that prevented international travel almost throughout the year. The minister however, explained that the ministry has spent the money on international travel for UNESCO and WTO meetings before the lockdown took effect in March.
