Nigeria and the Republic of Niger have signed a memorandum of understanding, to enable the importation of petroleum products into Nigeria from Niger.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources of both countries. According to Nigeria’s minister of state for petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, the agreement is a “win win” for both countries, since Niger has excess and Nigeria has the market.
Mallam Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has laud the project, stating that the two countries have been on this move for about four to five months.
Meanwhile, Nigeria is Africa’s largest oil producer, and 6th globally.
