Teranga Lions of Senegal have lost a hero, Pape Boupa Diop.
The 42-year old was among the squad that shocked the world in 2002 world cup, where they reached the final 8.
His only goal against France ensured that they went through, after securing a 3-3 draw with Uruguay.
He scored three goals in that competition, though he was a defensive player. Diop won 65 caps for his country, within his seven years of playing for them and featured in four African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He was said to have been ill with an unknown ailment, for a while.
