The new police unit, Special Weapon And Tactics unit (SWAT) has commenced their full operations today, as their training was graced by the presence of the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi.

The minister, who was in company of his entourage, charged the officers of the unit on training at Police Training Ground in Nasarawa state to be dutiful and law-abiding.

The officers number above 400 and were said to have commenced training few weeks ago; meanwhile, the camp in Nasarawa is the second to be commissioned.

Recall, that the IGP announced the establishment of SWAT after the disbandment of SARS, occasioned by the protest; though protesters also rejected SWAT, saying the two are still the same.
